Job Description
Plan, organize, coordinate and/or otherwise direct the estimating, conceptual design, detail design, manufacture, fabrication, assembly and test and installation checkout of a broad spectrum of assembly and test equipment.
The specified equipment may be used for full scale development, qualification, airworthiness, safety of flight, or production testing of mechanical actuation products, or may be sold directly to customers for use in overhaul, performance testing and engineering evaluation of complex aircraft actuation systems.
Operate an engineering test facility serving the Aircraft Group, Torrance Operations which plans, proposes, and conducts test programs required to qualify new products to customer requirements, which supports Design, Development and Manufacturing with evaluation and environmental test services; and which performs customer required production, environmental and quality maintenance tests.
Will support first time development testing of new and highly sophisticated products. Create an environment where the design and development engineers can efficiently develop cost effective and high performance products. To accomplish this, the incumbent must have a sensitivity to the often competing objectives of the design development activity and the manufacturing schedule.
Carreer Requirments
- The selected individual should possess a B.S. in engineering as a minimum, with an advanced degree desirable, plus at least ten years of experience in the areas of development and production testing, project planning, engineering, and test equipment design and development. The Engineering Laboratory Manager has a very strong supervisory and technical role and must also accommodate competing job priorities.In order to satisfactorily meet the requirements of this position, the incumbent should possess strong human resources skills in the areas of verbal and written communications, employee performance monitoring and review, employee training and dealing with a broad spectrum of management and disciplines.The ability to function in a demanding technical environment regarding testing and test equipment and associated schedule problems is a must.Experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment, supporting product design and development and production testing is required.
